This years sled dog race was a great success and we are happy to announce the race days for 2012 will be Jan 13-15, 2012

The Cariboo Challenge Dog Sled race location will include the 2 lakes, 108 and Sepa lakes as well as the green belt lands and golf course. This will allow for a more spectator friendly event with better trails and staging areas.

JAN. 6.2012 CARIBOO CHALLENGE DOG SLED RACES CANCELLED

100 MILE HOUSE. BC...The cancellation of the dog sled races across Western Canada has left the organizers no choice but to cancel the race for 100 Mile House set for Jan.13-14-15, 2012.

"We do have the snow to stage the races on the east side of the highway, but we don't have the registration to sustain the S6000 purse", said Chairman Len Doucette,

"Dog Sledders across western Canada haven't even had a chance to train their teams because of the lack of snow in many parts of the west, including Saskatchewan where races have been cancelled" said long time organizer Irwin Weins.

"The lack of registration is the result of the cancellation of many races across western Canada, causing a significant collapse of the usual racing circuits that many mushers follow, said race treasurer Uli Vogler.

Meanwhile, the organizers have moved forward with plans for next year, with the 2013 plans to add mid-distance races, which will likely add tremendously the total number of teams that will be attracted to the event.
